The Department of Education, under the leadership of MEC Matome Chiloane, has implemented various security measures to prevent the leaking of exam papers at 1,035 exam centers. This includes armed escorts, response units, and CCTV cameras during the examination period.
Additionally, the marking of NSC scripts will occur in two stages at 18 marking centers from November 14 to December 16. Regarding the placement of pupils in grades 1 and 8, 61.22% of applicants have been placed, with efforts ongoing to assist the remaining unplaced applicants.
MEC Chiloane highlighted that 103 schools have reached full capacity, and unplaced applicants will be transferred to the next nearest school with available space. The department is working tirelessly to release daily placement offers for both younger and older pupils.
