CNN

A man was arrested on state gun charges near Donald Trump’s rally in California, but the former president was not in any danger, according to the US Secret Service, FBI, and the Department of Justice. The man, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller, illegally possessed firearms and gained access to the rally perimeter. Authorities found irregularities in his possession and false identification.

Miller was arrested before the rally and charged with firearms offenses. He denied any assassination intent towards Trump. The investigation is ongoing, with no evidence of such intent found. The Trump campaign thanked law enforcement for ensuring the rally’s safety.

CNN’s Josh Campbell and Alayna Treene contributed to this report.
