These individuals were taken into custody as part of Operation Stratus, with arrests made in Drogheda, Meath, and Dublin. Ranging in age from 26 to 38, the seven women and one man face charges such as drug possession, facilitating criminal activities, and money laundering.
The Drogheda feud, involving two criminal gangs, resulted in multiple violent incidents including assaults, kidnappings, and murders. The tragic death of 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods in January 2020 shocked the nation, as his body was brutally dismembered. Operation Stratus was launched to dismantle these criminal organizations, leading to the imprisonment or exile of key gang members over the past four years.
Despite some gang leaders fleeing the country, they have continued to supply drugs to Ireland from abroad. The ongoing efforts of law enforcement have resulted in convictions and significant disruptions to criminal operations, but the fight against organized crime in Drogheda continues.
