Cultural revival ignites Shalim and Hallaniyat Islands

Exploring Cultural Exchange at the Shalim and Halaniyat Islands Cultural Forum

The Cultural Forum, a collaborative initiative between the Cultural Club and Oman Oil Development Company, kicked off in the scenic backdrop of Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar Governorate. Running until 16 October, the forum aims to foster cultural exchange and development in the region.

The inaugural ceremony featured esteemed guests, including His Excellency Abdul Hakeem bin Mohammed Al Rashidi, Wali of Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands. Poetry recitals by renowned artists added a touch of cultural richness to the event, reflecting on the heritage and diversity of the governorate.

Dr Mohammed bin Ali Al Balushi, Chairman of the Cultural Club, emphasized the significance of decentralizing cultural activities to regions like Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands. By providing platforms for intellectual engagement and cultural awareness, such forums contribute to social and economic development, sparking new opportunities for growth and entrepreneurship.

The forum also boasts exhibitions ranging from a local book fair to traditional crafts display, aiming to nurture talents, preserve heritage, and forge partnerships across various sectors. It seeks to inspire youth engagement in cultural activities and strengthen the region’s identity and heritage.
