An unknown offender accidentally set themselves ablaze after a ram raid and fire at a business in Melbourne’s inner suburbs overnight.
Police suspect a group used a stolen BMW X5 to ram a cycling business on Lygon Street in Brunswick around 2.55 am.
The group rammed the door multiple times with the stolen car, causing a fire inside the store as they entered.
One offender was seen fleeing with their arm on fire, while the rest escaped on foot towards Nicholson Street.
The store suffered significant damage along with a nearby business.
Investigators traced the stolen BMW back to a Heatherton address from October 3, with a crime scene established as the investigation continues.
