Chinese Premier Li Qiang Arrives in Pakistan for Bilateral Visit and SCO Summit

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has arrived in Pakistan for a four-day bilateral visit, coinciding with the much-anticipated Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. His visit marks the first by a Chinese premier in 11 years, highlighting the strong relationship between the two countries.

Upon his arrival, Li was received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other top government officials, setting the stage for discussions on existing initiatives, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and exploring new avenues of cooperation.

Security measures have been intensified in Islamabad, with a three-day public holiday announced for the SCO meeting. The visit will include meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, parliamentary leaders, and senior military leadership.

The summit aims to enhance regional cooperation, trade, and financial integrity, positioning Pakistan as a trade hub for Central Asia. It is a significant opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen ties with friendly countries and boost economic development and connectivity in the region.

As Pakistan prepares to host the SCO summit, the government is committed to fostering regional prosperity and stability through this important gathering.
