Canada considering response to India withdrawing diplomats | Exclusive

Canada is likely to respond soon to India’s move of withdrawing its top envoy as well as other “targeted” diplomats and officials over the country’s attempt to link them to a probe into the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Top government sources said Canada will also take similar steps, accusing the country of putting unnecessary pressure on New Delhi regarding a “designated terrorist” without adequate evidence to support their claims.

Sources revealed that Canadian counterparts have explicitly stated that they are not inclined towards diplomatic resolutions.

India’s Response:

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) decided to recall the Indian high commissioner and other diplomats after summoning the Canadian charge d’affaires.

MEA condemned the unwarranted targeting of Indian officials in Canada as unacceptable and expressed concerns over their safety due to the Trudeau government’s actions supporting extremism and violence.

Consequently, India decided to withdraw its High Commissioner and other targeted diplomats, reserving the right to take further action in response to Canada’s alleged support for extremism and separatism against India.
