Victoria’s worst roads are set to undergo a major transformation with a nearly $1 billion state government project kicking off.
Regional roads will receive 70% of the $964 million overhaul, focusing on repairs like pothole patching and resurfacing.
The project targets key roads like the Hume Freeway, Princes Highway, Western Highway, and more, alongside Melbourne roads like Toorak Road and Centre Road.
The government aims to address the major backlog of maintenance caused by budget cuts and flood damages, with over 700 potholes filled daily in Victoria.
Despite the ongoing repairs, opposition and RACV point out the increase in vehicle damages due to neglected road maintenance.
