According to a survey by the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ukraine (AmCham), businesses are struggling to find qualified applicants and competition for workers due to mobilization fears. As a response, recommendations have been made to upskill and reskill workers, transition veterans into civilian life, and create more inclusive working environments.
Innovations in recruitment practices are also taking place, with companies like Agromat hiring and training women for truck driving and forklift operating roles. This effort not only addresses the workforce shortage but also provides opportunities for women to excel in non-traditional roles. In another example, Silpo, a major supermarket chain, is hiring more teenagers for entry-level positions, while Vodafone has created a youth program to provide job experience for teenagers.
These changes in the labor market have also led to increased wages, improving the economic prospects for workers in Ukraine. Overall, the country is adapting to the challenges posed by mobilization and creating more diverse and inclusive workplaces in the process.
