US to provide Israel with anti-missile system and troops for retaliation against Iran

Enhancing Israel’s defense against missile attacks, the United States announced a rare deployment of U.S. troops and the advanced Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to the country. Following Iran’s launch of over 180 missiles at Israel, the move is aimed at protecting U.S. personnel and supporting Israel in the face of potential retaliations.

Pentagon spokesperson Major General Patrick Ryder emphasized the strategic importance of the deployment, citing recent adjustments to bolster Israel’s air defenses. The THAAD system, known for its effectiveness in intercepting ballistic missiles, adds to Israel’s existing anti-missile capabilities.

Despite Iran’s warning against the U.S. deployment, experts believe Iran seeks to avoid direct conflict with the United States. The escalating tensions in the region have prompted the U.S. to take proactive measures to secure Israel from missile threats.

The deployment marks a significant step in U.S.-Israel defense cooperation, highlighting the close partnership between the two countries in countering regional security challenges.
