The United States is set to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and troops to Israel, as per the Pentagon. This move comes amid warnings from Iran to keep American military forces out of Israel. The THAAD system, capable of intercepting short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats, will reinforce Israel’s air defense following missile attacks by Iran earlier in the year. The deployment was authorized by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on the direction of President Joe Biden.
