Former US President Donald Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of importing an “army of illegal alien gang members” and has called for the death penalty for immigrants who kill American citizens. Speaking to supporters in Aurora, Colorado, Trump vowed to rid the country of foreign criminal gangs if he is re-elected to the White House.
Trump blamed the lax border policies of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the presence of Venezuelan criminal gangs in Aurora, Colorado. The influx of around 40,000 Venezuelan immigrants into the city since 2022 has led to a spike in violent and gang-related crimes.
Trump promised to launch “Operation Aurora” to expedite the removal of these gangs and lead the largest deportation operation in American history if re-elected. The Republican candidate highlighted the issue as a focal point of his anti-immigration rhetoric, claiming that Harris had resettled criminal gangs into American communities.
Under Biden’s administration, at least 10.6 million more illegal immigrants have entered the US, according to US Customs and Border Protection figures. Immigration and Customs Enforcement data also show a significant number of convicted criminals living in the US illegally.
