The recent attack on NCP leader Baba Siddique outside his son’s office was a meticulously planned operation, with the assailants tracking his movements for over two months. The police suspect it to be a ‘contract killing’ as the mastermind remains unidentified, possibly paying the assailants to carry out the attack without warning.

Siddique, who had received a death threat just days before the incident and was under ‘Y’ category security, was fatally shot outside his son’s office. Two arrests have been made in connection with the killing, with the perpetrators claiming allegiance to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

During Dussehra celebrations, the attackers used firecrackers as a cover to shoot Siddique, firing three rounds and hitting him twice. The investigation is ongoing, with a third suspect still at large. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has promised swift justice and strict action in the case.
