Pakistan to Host Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
Pakistan is gearing up to host a two-day meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabad, starting from Tuesday. The meeting will be presided over by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The event will see participation from Prime Ministers of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with the First Vice President of Iran and the External Affairs Minister of India. Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang will represent his country at the meeting.
In addition, the Prime Minister of Mongolia as Observer State and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan as Special Guest will also be in attendance. Discussions will focus on cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural linkages, along with a review of the Organization’s performance.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also engage in important bilateral meetings with the visiting heads of delegations. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar emphasizes that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the meeting of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
