Russia captures another village near key town in East Ukraine

Russia has seized another village in east Ukraine as it advances towards the city of Pokrovsk. This comes after months of Russian troops moving westward in the Donetsk region, leading to a challenging situation in the region for Kyiv.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of Mykhailivka, a village near Selydove and south of Pokrovsk. Selydove has already suffered extensive damage from shelling, causing a significant portion of its population to flee.

Pokrovsk, a mining town with a population of approximately 60,000, has been a target for Russia’s offensive. The ongoing offensive has resulted in the claiming of multiple east Ukrainian villages by Russian forces over the past few months.
