The Leader of Opposition asked why the families of the two soldiers, who died as ‘Agniveers’ would not get the same pension and benefits as other martyred soldiers and said that he would keep fighting against this “injustice”
After the death of two Agniveers in Nashik during training, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi demanded answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on why the life of one soldier is more valuable than the other. He questioned why the families of the deceased soldiers would not receive the same pension and benefits as other martyred soldiers, highlighting the need for equality and fairness in honoring their sacrifice.
Gandhi expressed condolences to the families of Gohil Vishwaraj Singh and Saifat Sheet, emphasizing the importance of addressing the discrepancies in the Agniveer scheme. He criticized the BJP government for failing to provide adequate compensation and support to the families of the fallen soldiers, calling for a more equitable treatment of all martyrs. The Congress leader condemned the Agneepath scheme as an injustice to the army and a dishonor to the bravery of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The tragic incident in Nashik raised serious concerns about the treatment of Agniveers in comparison to other martyrs. Gandhi urged the government to rectify the disparities and ensure that all soldiers, regardless of their designation, receive equal recognition and support for their sacrifices.
Joining the ‘Jai Jawan’ movement, Gandhi called for united action against the discriminatory practices in the Agniveer scheme and advocated for a more inclusive and respectful approach towards honoring the commitment and dedication of soldiers. The deaths of Agniveers Gohil and Saifat serve as a poignant reminder of the need for fair treatment and support for all soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation.
The demands for parity in benefits and recognition for all martyrs underscore the ongoing efforts to address systemic inequalities and ensure that the sacrifices of soldiers are honored with the respect and gratitude they deserve.
