Qalibaf meets Lebanese PM, visits Israel-hit area in Beirut

Iranian Parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, made a stop in Beirut on his way to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Geneva. During his visit, Ghalibaf met with Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati and also visited the Basta neighborhood, where buildings were destroyed in Israeli airstrikes just two days prior.

Lebanon has suffered numerous attacks from the Israeli army, with over 9,500 incidents since October 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries. Ghalibaf’s visit aimed to show support from Iran to the Lebanese people and resistance groups.

Despite the devastation, Ghalibaf’s visit signifies solidarity and a message of support to the Lebanese nation in their time of need. The images from the destroyed neighborhood highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and the need for international cooperation to ensure peace and stability.
