Qalibaf meets Lebanese PM in Beirut, visits Israel-hit area – Politics update

Iranian Parliament speaker, Qalibaf, made a stopover in Beirut on his way to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva. During his brief visit, he met with Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati and visited the Basta neighborhood where Israeli airstrikes had destroyed residential buildings just days earlier.

Lebanon has been a frequent target of Israeli attacks, with over 9,500 strikes since October 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries. Qalibaf’s visit aimed to show solidarity and support from the Iranian people and officials to the Lebanese nation and their resistance.

His presence in Beirut sends a strong message of unity and alliance against aggression, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in times of crisis. The images of devastation in Basta serve as a reminder of the ongoing conflicts in the region and the need for diplomatic efforts to address these issues.
