The Ministry of National Health has finalized recommendations for rightsizing, signaling a major restructuring in the health sector. The plan has been forwarded to the committee for further action.
Key decisions include retaining the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, while terminating 98 vacancies in the PMDC. The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University will be transferred to the Islamabad administration, along with the Health Services Academy and Federal Medical College.
Additionally, primary healthcare programs and drug regulations will see continued support, with plans for separating the medicines’ price fixing authority from DRAP. An exclusive presentation is set to be delivered to the prime minister for final approval.
