In a bold move of solidarity, Nicaragua has decided to sever diplomatic relations with Israel, a decision welcomed by Palestine. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry praised Nicaragua for taking tangible steps to halt the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people and other nations in the region.
The ministry condemned Israel’s relentless killing, destruction, and brutality against Palestinians, calling it a campaign of genocide that has been ongoing for over a year. They expressed hope that Nicaragua’s decision would inspire other friendly governments to take similar actions against Israel.
After a unanimous decision by parliament, Nicaragua officially announced the cut of all diplomatic ties with Israel. The move comes as Israel continues its genocidal offensive in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of nearly 42,200 people, with the majority being women and children, and over 98,300 injuries.
The Israeli onslaught has forced the displacement of almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip, exacerbating an already dire situation due to the ongoing blockade which has caused severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
