Ministry refutes Serbian Army movements towards Kosovo border

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia dismissed accusations made by Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti regarding the alleged movement of Serbian Armed Forces near the administrative line with Kosovo. Kurti claimed that Serbian soldiers were spotted 50 meters from the line but fled upon being noticed, inciting tensions. However, the Serbian Ministry of Defense clarified that the soldiers were actually carrying out regular security tasks to control the land security zone, in line with signed agreements.

The Ministry stated that the individuals encountered at the location were actually smugglers of illegally cut forests from central Serbia, and not security forces as claimed by Kurti. Security authorities intercepted these individuals engaged in criminal activity, leading to the seizure of vehicles used for timber transportation.

Resolution 1244 and the Military-Technical Agreement do not recognize the presence of Kosovo security forces in the area. The Ministry condemned the Kosovo authorities for disregarding the agreed agreements and monitoring the situation without factual basis.
