Li Qiang urges China and Laos to boost practical cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang recently expressed China’s commitment to enhancing practical cooperation with Laos, aiming to create a community with shared future for both nations. During his meeting with Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, Li emphasized the importance of deepening political trust and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.

As long-standing socialist allies, China and Laos have maintained strong ties over the past 60 years, adapting to changes in the global landscape. Li highlighted the strategic communication between General Secretary Xi and General Secretary Thongloun, underscoring their shared vision for a China-Laos community with a shared future.

The premier urged both countries to accelerate the implementation of new action plans and promote strategic alignment with initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative. Li also emphasized the need to expand cooperation in various fields such as trade, investment, and infrastructure, leveraging projects like the China-Laos Railway for mutual benefit.

Thongloun reciprocated the commitment to strengthening ties, emphasizing Laos’ support for China’s core interests and global initiatives. He proposed deeper cultural and people-to-people exchanges to elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights.
