THAAD missile defense system deployed in Israel amid rising tensions with Iran
The Israeli army has deployed the US-made THAAD missile defense system in response to possible action against Iran in coordination with the United States.
Following a retaliatory missile attack by Iran earlier this month, Israel is preparing for a major strike against Iran with the deployment of the THAAD system to counter potential long-range ballistic missile threats.
The THAAD system, operated by American personnel in Israel, significantly boosts the country’s air defense capabilities by intercepting both short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.
Iran launched an attack on Israel on Oct. 1, prompting preparations for retaliatory action. Iran defended its missile strike under Article 51 of the UN Charter, allowing for self-defense following an armed attack.
