Israel battles Hizbollah on ground, strikes Lebanon from above.

Israel and Hezbollah engaged in intense fighting in South Lebanon, with the Israeli air force escalating its bombardment. UN peacekeepers accused Israeli troops of forcibly entering a position, sparking tensions in the region. Israel’s strikes expanded beyond Hezbollah strongholds, targeting various areas in Lebanon.

Amid the conflict, a 100-year-old mosque in Kfar Tibnit was hit, causing widespread destruction. Hezbollah reported clashes with Israeli troops and launched rockets at Haifa. The fighting has led to civilian casualties and displacement on both sides of the border.

UNIFIL peacekeepers in Lebanon faced criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called for their withdrawal. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned this move, calling it a violation of international norms.

Efforts to negotiate a ceasefire have failed, with Lebanon facing its worst economic crisis in decades. Iran expressed readiness to defend its people and interests, while Palestinians in Gaza appealed for an end to the violence.

Overall, the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to escalate, with no immediate resolution in sight.
