Hezbollah, a Lebanese terror group, is reportedly facing severe financial difficulties due to Israeli military actions targeting their funding sources, as per a VOA report. The group’s main income source, Al-Qard al-Hasan (AQAH), has been significantly affected by Israeli airstrikes. Hezbollah also received funds from licensed commercial banks and cash-bearing planes at Beirut’s airport.
Israel has escalated attacks on AQAH, causing substantial damage, impacting Hezbollah’s operations. The group is struggling to pay its members and faces a significant financial crisis. Lebanese bankers, who may have facilitated Hezbollah’s money laundering, have fled the country to avoid Israeli reprisals.
‘A very serious financial problem’
Political science professor Hilal Khashan mentioned that Hezbollah is unable to support its members, and Lebanon’s wealthiest bankers have fled in fear. Despite the financial strain, Hezbollah’s resolve to fight remains strong.
The Lebanese government has increased surveillance at Beirut’s airport to prevent smuggling of cash to Hezbollah. Despite the challenges, Hezbollah continues its operations driven by religious zeal rather than financial constraints.
