FM refutes claims of Iranian missile supply to Russia – political news

In a recent post on his official account, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Araqchi refuted claims made by the media about Iran supplying Russia with missiles. The allegations stemmed from a report by Reuters quoting a top EU official who claimed Araqchi admitted to providing Russia with “short-range rockets” that could reach 250 kilometers. The EU official, who chose to remain anonymous, also stated that Araqchi did not specify when these rockets were transferred.

In response, Araqchi clarified his conversations with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and European External Action Service deputy secretary general Enrique Mora during the UN General Assembly in New York. He emphasized the long-standing military cooperation between Iran and Russia, criticized European support to Israel in terms of weapons, and highlighted the impact of US sanctions on Europe’s business community.

Araqchi firmly denied providing ballistic missiles to Russia and dismissed the idea of appeasing Israel through false claims. This incident sheds light on the ongoing political dynamics and diplomatic challenges faced by Iran in the international arena.
