Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to Visit Pakistan Amid Rising Tensions

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is set to embark on a four-day visit to Islamabad from October 14 to 17 to engage with Pakistan’s leaders and attend the Meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

This visit comes in the aftermath of a recent suicide attack near Karachi’s airport that targeted Chinese nationals, causing casualties and damage. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured the Chinese government of a thorough investigation and swift justice for the perpetrators.

The visit will focus on strengthening the enduring Pakistan-China partnership, with discussions covering economic cooperation, trade relations, and the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Premier Li will also meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and engage with key parliamentary and military leaders.

Both countries are committed to enhancing their strategic cooperation and addressing mutual concerns amidst regional and global challenges. The visit underscores the significance of the Pakistan-China relationship and highlights their joint efforts towards sustainable development and security.
