Central govt commends Macao’s new chief executive designate

China’s State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office congratulated Sam Hou Fai on his election as Macao’s chief executive designate. Sam was elected as the sixth-term chief executive-designate of China’s Macao Special Administrative Region, pending appointment by the Central People’s Government, with overwhelming support.

The office highlighted the successful election as a strong endorsement of “One Country, Two Systems” by Macao society and recognized Sam Hou Fai’s character, capabilities, and vision. The significance of the election lies in promoting social unity, advancing the principle of “patriots administering Macao,” and furthering the practice of “One Country, Two Systems.”
