Kim Yo-jong, the vice department director of the Workers’ Party Central Committee, accused South Korea’s “bellicose” defense ministry of pushing South Korea toward a tragic end. She claimed that Seoul’s “reckless challengers” would hasten the country’s demise by accepting a self-destructive path.
Kim’s remarks, delivered through the Korean Central News Agency on the night of the 13th, condemned South Korea’s defense ministry as sparking acts of war. This came after a series of North Korean statements following the “Pyongyang drone leaflet” incident, where South Korea was warned of dire consequences if it continued to provoke North Korea.
The vice department director also criticized Seoul for failing to recognize the danger and wasting time on empty rhetoric. She called on South Korea to refrain from provocations that breach other countries’ airspace to prevent further escalation.
Kim’s recent statements follow similar warnings issued on the night of the 12th regarding the potential reoccurrence of the “Pyongyang drone leaflet” incident. South Korea was cautioned of severe repercussions if such actions were repeated.
Overall, Kim’s strong stance reflects growing tensions and the need for both sides to exercise caution to prevent further escalation.
