Belarus likely lost MiG-31 jets, says monitoring group

In a recent turn of events, two Russian MiG-31K jets that were sent to Belarus have mysteriously disappeared and are believed to have returned to Russia. The Belarusian monitoring group Hajun reported that the jets did not return to the Machulyshchi airfield after takeoff and instead headed towards Russia. This comes after the jets landed in Belarus on Oct. 9 and 10, sparking speculation about Russia’s intentions.

The MiG-31 aircraft is capable of flying at speeds of up to 3,000 kilometers per hour and launching Kinzhal missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers, posing a significant threat to Ukraine. Prior to this incident, Ukrainian drone strikes had already targeted Russian airbases, destroying one MiG-31 and damaging another.

The sudden appearance of these jets in Belarus has raised concerns about Russia’s motives and its potential plans in the region. With tensions escalating, the situation remains fluid and unpredictable. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
