Despite the region’s geographical advantage of being away from major migration routes of infected birds, the virus is inching closer, having already reached neighboring countries like Indonesia.
With the risk of the virus arriving in Australia during the Southern Hemisphere spring, the government is ramping up its defenses. This year, the country faced outbreaks of different strains of bird flu, underscoring the need for continuous investment in preparedness measures.
