Antigua and Barbuda Yachting Boom: Boosting Tourism Growth

Antigua and Barbuda’s yachting industry is thriving, driving tourism to new heights in the twin-island nation. The recent Monaco Yacht Show spotlighted the country as a premier yachting destination, with Minister of Tourism Charles Fernandez leading a delegation to showcase the sector.

The economic impact is significant, with yachting contributing around $200 million annually to the nation’s economy. Antigua’s marinas are busy, indicating a rising popularity among tourists.

Facilities like Antigua Yacht Club, Jolly Harbour Marina, and Falmouth Harbour cater to various yachts, from smaller vessels to mega-yachts, boosting local businesses through increased spending. The government supports the sector’s growth, with Falmouth Harbour Marina recently investing $7 million in upgrades.

With over 50 yachts confirmed for the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December and berths filling up, the upcoming season promises to be busy. Antigua and Barbuda’s exceptional sailing conditions and yachting services, coupled with a 15% increase in stay-over visitors, highlight their position as a top Caribbean yachting destination.
