Israeli Port of Eilat Declares Bankruptcy Due to Yemeni Attacks

The “World Cargo News” website confirms that the Israeli port of Eilat has declared bankruptcy with an 85% decline in activity due to attacks by Yemeni armed forces on ships linked to the Israeli occupation in the Red Sea. This has led to a significant decrease in volumes, prompting the port to seek financial assistance from the Israeli government. CEO Gideon Goldbert reported no revenue for eight months, despite a brief spike in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Eilat is crucial for Israeli trade, handling bulk cargo, potash, and car imports from the East via the Red Sea. However, Yemeni forces targeting cargo ships in the region have severely impacted operations. In solidarity with Gaza, Yemen also attacks Tel Aviv and Zionist areas in Palestine.

These events highlight the ongoing conflict in the region and the interconnectedness of maritime trade and military actions. The economic repercussions of such attacks are significant, affecting not only Eilat but also regional stability and trade routes.
