Victory Chronicles: 10/13/20

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. The Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation, later called the “Iron Fist,” on September 27, 2020, in response to the large-scale provocation of the Armenian armed forces along the frontline.

The 44-day Second Karabakh War ended with Azerbaijan’s territories being liberated from nearly 30 years of Armenian occupation.

On the 17th day of the Second Karabakh War:

  • President Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to the Turkish Haber Turk TV channel.
  • First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva shared a post on her official Instagram page.
  • Armenian armed forces fired on Azerbaijan’s Goranboy, Tartar, Aghdam, and Aghjabadi districts.
  • A significant number of Armenian forces and equipment were destroyed.
  • Armenian armed forces targeted villages in Aghdam district with artillery and missiles.
  • 42 Azerbaijani civilians were killed from September 27 to October 13 due to Armenian shelling of settlements.
  • The Defense Ministry released a video showing the liberated settlement of Hadrut.

In response to Armenian aggression, the Azerbaijani Army launched Operation “Iron Fist” to reclaim territories from Armenian occupation during the Second Karabakh War. President Aliyev and First Vice President Aliyeva took diplomatic steps while Armenian forces continued to attack Azerbaijani districts. Despite casualties, Azerbaijan successfully liberated settlements like Hadrut, showcasing its military strength. This ongoing conflict highlights the determination of Azerbaijan to protect its sovereignty and reclaim occupied lands.
