Tshisekedi boycotted the meeting and lunch, expressing disappointment in the omission of the DRC crisis being the largest French-speaking country. Macron defended his speech, emphasizing his calls for peace between DRC and Rwanda, urging the dismantling of armed groups for territorial integrity.
Tensions between DRC and Rwanda have affected Francophonie, with past disputes at summits. Despite efforts by Angola to mediate the conflict and establish peace, challenges remain in implementing agreements for neutrality and troop withdrawal.
