Tennessee officials seek safe disposal of dynamite at recycling plant

Tennessee authorities are investigating a box of dynamite found at a metal recycling business, leading to evacuations in the area. An explosive ordnance robot was used to safely remove and dispose of the explosives, which tested positive for ammonium nitrate. The box, initially thought to contain around 200 sticks of dynamite, was discovered accidentally by employees using a torch at the plant.

Authorities are working to remove and dispose of the dynamite properly, with the guidance of the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Evacuations are in place for residents within 3,000 feet of the site as a precautionary measure.
