Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West has initiated the construction of a military base in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, to combat insecurity in the region, particularly along the Kogi-Kwara border. The base aims to enhance the response time of security agencies to threats like terrorism and kidnapping.
Karimi expressed his commitment to supporting the military in safeguarding citizens and combating criminal activities. The fully funded facility includes accommodation for soldiers, an armoury, office spaces, and other essential amenities to strengthen the Army’s presence in the area.
Governor Usman Ododo’s Special Adviser on Security praised the project for improving security in Kogi State and surrounding areas. The Chief of Army Staff recognized the collaboration’s significance in addressing security challenges nationwide, emphasizing the base’s role in operations beyond Kogi.
The strategic location of Kogi makes it pivotal for security operations across the country, benefitting not only the state but neighboring regions as well.
