In a bold move, Ukraine’s forces targeted a fuel depot near Rovenky in the Russian-occupied Luhansk region, striking a blow at the supply chain for the Russian army. The attack resulted in a massive fire at the facility, located just south of Luhansk, with initial reports suggesting that strike drones were the cause. This operation, led by Ukraine’s military intelligence HUR, marks a strategic move in the ongoing conflict.
This isn’t the first time Ukrainian forces have targeted key energy infrastructure. Just days prior, Ukrainian drones set fire to a major oil refinery in Crimea, following previous strikes that reached deep into Russian territory. Notably, Ukraine executed its largest drone strike to date on Sept. 1, hitting multiple regions.
