PTI Threatens ‘Massive’ Protests if Denied Meeting with Imran Khan
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has warned of holding ‘massive’ protests on October 15 at Islamabad’s D-Chowk if the party is not permitted to meet its founder, Imran Khan. PTI Central Secretary Information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, emphasized the importance of allowing Khan to meet with his family and lawyers to avoid the proposed demonstration.
Akram expressed concerns over the lack of communication with Khan for the past few weeks, alleging mistreatment in jail. The party’s protest is aimed at gaining access to their leader rather than disrupting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, as clarified by Akram.
The government, on the other hand, has assured strict security measures for the upcoming SCO Summit, scheduled for October 15-16, warning against any attempts to disturb the event. Minister for Information, Atta Tarar, affirmed that Islamabad is fully prepared to host foreign delegations and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during the conference.
Amidst the escalating tensions, PTI remains firm in its stance, vowing to proceed with the protests unless their demands are met regarding Imran Khan’s accessibility.
