The Government’s Intractable Track Record
It seems that the government has a habit of ignoring every issue, dissenting voice, or opposition without much consideration. The recent events in Islamabad have raised tensions, with road blockages, internet restrictions, and clashes between protesters and authorities becoming a common sight. The power play between political leaders and the government has reached a tipping point, calling for a day of reflection on how we reached this chaotic state.
The rush to pass amendments and the disregard for promises made in the past hint at a betrayal of trust. The proposed changes to the Constitution to alter the judiciary’s independence are concerning, potentially leading to a loss of balance of power. On the economic front, despite securing an IMF bailout, the looming crisis is a cause for worry.
Amidst all this chaos, peaceful protests should be upheld as a right, not suppressed. The government’s response to dissent and opposition needs a strategic shift towards engaging in meaningful dialogue and embracing diversity of opinions. It is time for a more considered and inclusive approach to governance, prioritizing the well-being of the nation and its people.
