North Korea has accused South Korea of sending drones into Pyongyang airspace to distribute anti-North Korea leaflets. The accusation was made in North Korean state media on the 12th. The Workers’ Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, featured a front-page article titled, “The trigger of sovereignty protection and security cannot but be pulled without hesitation,” echoing a statement from the previous day by the foreign ministry. North Korea has previously criticized private South Korean groups for distributing anti-North Korea leaflets but had not reported it in domestic media. The recent accusation comes after North Korea claimed that South Korea sent drones into their airspace on the 3rd, 9th, and 10th of this month. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff released a statement saying they cannot confirm North Korea’s claims and warned North Korea of the consequences of their provocative actions.
In this latest twist of events, tensions between North and South Korea continue to escalate, with accusations being traded and warnings issued on both sides. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
