North Korea claims ‘Drones in Pyongyang’ – DefSec: “Unwise statement”

In a recent interview, National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik dismissed North Korea’s claim that South Korean drones infiltrated Pyongyang, stating that responding to every claim by North Korea is not wise. Despite Joe Biden’s proposal for a trilateral summit between the US, South Korea, and Japan, Shin mentioned that discussions are ongoing for a possible year-end meeting.

Regarding the recent incident where North Korea accused South Korean drones of infiltrating their airspace, Shin pointed out the complexities of drone technology, suggesting that the drones could serve various purposes. He also speculated that North Korea’s decision to publicly announce the drone infiltration might stem from a strategic calculation to avoid admitting vulnerability in their air defense system.

Shin also commented on North Korea’s constitutional amendments, suggesting that North Korea may have temporarily postponed certain changes. As for the proposed trilateral summit, Shin explained that scheduling conflicts with other regional meetings may push the summit to the end of the year. Stay tuned for further updates!
