Nicaragua cuts ties with Israel

Amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, Nicaragua has made a bold move by cutting off diplomatic ties with Israel, accusing the Israeli government of being “fascist” and “genocidal.” The decision came in response to Israel’s ongoing attacks on Palestinian territories.

Nicaragua’s congress passed a resolution urging the government to take action on the one-year anniversary of the Gaza war, citing concerns about the conflict spreading to neighboring countries like Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran.

Recently, Iran launched a series of missile strikes on Israel, further heightening the regional tensions. Nicaragua’s alliance with Iran, along with President Daniel Ortega’s controversial crackdown on anti-government protests in 2018, has led to the nation becoming increasingly isolated on the international stage.

This bold move by Nicaragua underscores the escalating tensions in the Middle East and the complex web of alliances and conflicts that continue to shape global politics.
