Nicaragua cuts ties with ‘Israel’ over Gaza offensive – Al-Manar TV

Nicaragua has taken a bold stand against the Israeli government’s military assault on Gaza, severing diplomatic relations and denouncing Israel as fascist and genocidal. President Daniel Ortega ordered this move in response to Israel’s actions in the Palestinian territories, with Vice President Rosario Murillo confirming the decision on state television.

The National Assembly supported the decision, condemning Israel’s military offensive and urging Nicaragua to cut ties with the “occupation regime.” This is not the first time Nicaragua has cut diplomatic relations with Israel, with previous instances occurring in 2010 and 1982 under different administrations.

Furthermore, Nicaragua has called out other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada, for their alleged accountability in supporting Israeli aggression against Palestinians. In a move to hold Germany accountable, Nicaragua filed a case before the International Court of Justice, but the ICJ did not find Germany in violation of a genocide convention.

As Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues, Nicaragua’s stance sends a strong message against the ongoing violence, with more than 42,000 Palestinians killed since the war began on October 7, 2023.
