MQM-P Presents Demands to Prime Minister for Support on Constitutional Amendments

A high-level delegation from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) recently met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to present their demands in exchange for supporting the government’s proposed constitutional amendments. The delegation emphasized the need for empowered local bodies across the country and specifically requested amendments to Article 140-A of the Constitution.

The MQM-P submitted a draft proposal to the prime minister, urging for their demands to be included in the government’s constitutional amendments. In response, a delegation from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is scheduled to visit MQM-P headquarters for further discussions on the proposed amendments.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured the MQM-P of early discussions with parliamentary parties regarding the suggested constitutional amendments. The meeting also touched upon federal projects in Sindh, funding for development works, Independent Power Procedures agreements, economic policies, and tax exemptions for Karachi.
