Iran’s Potential for Nuclear Weapons: A Growing Concern

In a recent statement to local media, Iranian parliament member Mohammad Mannan Raisi revealed that Iran could potentially obtain nuclear weapons within a short span of six months. He highlighted the significant progress made by Iran in its nuclear program over the past year, making the acquisition of nuclear weapons seem more attainable.

Raisi mentioned that if Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Supreme National Security Council approve, the country may rapidly pursue nuclear weapons. This could involve withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, as some countries have also disregarded the agreement.

Tensions between Iran and other nations, particularly Israel, have escalated in recent times. With the US pulling out of the Comprehensive Joint Plan of Action in 2018 and reimposing sanctions on Iran, the Iranian parliament has taken steps to enhance its nuclear capabilities.

As a result, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s monitoring capabilities have been reduced, raising concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the repercussions it may have on global security.
