Jamrud jirga draws massive crowd as PTM meeting kicks off

KHYBER: The Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement’s Pashtun Qaumi Jirga commenced peacefully on the first day, drawing a large crowd with the promise of an even bigger turnout on the following day. Despite initial confusion and restrictions, the event proceeded in Jamrud tehsil under government supervision.

While concerns loomed over the jirga’s organization due to recent police actions and government bans, an agreement was reached between PTM and the provincial government, allowing the event to proceed. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur ensured no anti-state activities would take place at the jirga.

Although initial arrangements by PTM volunteers were criticized, participants gathered from various regions, seeking resolutions for peace and justice. Despite the absence of key PTM figures like Manzoor Pashteen, the jirga buzzed with political discussions and calls for action.

While challenges persisted with inadequate facilities and confusion among attendees, the jirga brought together a diverse group, including political leaders and affected families. The event symbolized a collective desire for change and unity, setting the stage for impactful discussions and resolutions beyond the chaos of the initial day.
