Israel incurs global condemnation as two more UN staff hurt in Lebanon

Lebanon has requested the United Nations to immediately seek a ceasefire as Israel targets the head of Hezbollah’s security apparatus. The recent incident involved Israeli forces firing near a UN peacekeeping position in Lebanon, resulting in the injury of Blue Helmets and sparking diplomatic outrage.

UNIFIL reported additional injuries among its members, prompting the Israeli army to launch a thorough review. Despite claiming that the peacekeepers were inadvertently hurt during fighting, Israel faced condemnation from global leaders for violating international humanitarian law.

As diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Lebanon and Gaza falter, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati plans to seek a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire. The Israeli strikes in Lebanon have led to casualties, with reports suggesting a targeted attack on Hezbollah’s security chief.

The devastating military campaign in Gaza has resulted in numerous civilian casualties, underscoring the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
