Iran parliament speaker visits latest Beirut strike site

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf condemned Israel’s actions during a visit to the site of a deadly Israeli strike in Beirut. The strike targeted Hezbollah’s security chief, killing at least 22 people in the densely populated area. Ghalibaf criticized international organizations for remaining silent on Israel’s “crimes” and discussed ceasefire efforts with Lebanese officials.

Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati emphasized the need for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, calling on the UN to take action. Ghalibaf also planned to meet with Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri before heading to Geneva, showing Iran’s support for simultaneous ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has led to over 2,100 deaths in Lebanon, with escalating tensions since September.
