IDF: Hezbollah fires 300+ rockets into Israel on Yom Kippur weekend

Hezbollah launched over 300 projectiles into Israel over Yom Kippur weekend, injuring three men with shrapnel, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The Lebanese terrorist group claimed they were targeting Israeli forces in northern Israel, causing chaos and fear. Israeli President Isaac Herzog reported a drone strike on a retirement home in Herzliya, near Tel Aviv, but fortunately, no residents were harmed, including Holocaust survivors who reside there.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region escalated as the Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for launching projectiles from Gaza into southern Israel. The IDF responded by eliminating the leader of the PIJ in a targeted airstrike. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene a Cabinet meeting to discuss a suitable response to the recent attacks.

President Biden recently spoke with Netanyahu, expressing support for Israel’s right to defend itself while urging caution to prevent civilian casualties. The attacks by Hezbollah on Yom Kippur highlight the ongoing conflict in the region and the threat to stability.
